Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC) in São Paulo, inaugurated on May 25, 2011, represents the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). It aims to promote India's rich heritage and foster cultural exchange between India and Brazil.
Located in Consolação, the Centre houses a multipurpose hall, auditorium, library, and kitchen, offering events and classes to the public. Activities include yoga, meditation, Indian philosophy, Ayurveda, Hindi language, and Indian festivals. It collaborates with local organisations and also provides space for Brazilian artists and scholars.
SVCC features a well-stocked library with books in English, Hindi, and Portuguese, as well as Bollywood films and documentaries. It offers regular classes in Indian classical dance, yoga, and tabla, with qualified local and India-based instructors.
Scholarships: ICCR offers scholarships for Brazilian students (UG, PG, PhD) in Indian universities and special scholarships for learning Indian classical music and dance under the Guru-Shishya tradition.
